It comes with a variety of smart features like home mapping and virtual “no-go zones”.
Matrix Clean
The most popular vacuum cleaner in America (based on NPD Group/Retail tracking Service data). Matrix Clean features incredible suction power, Matrix & Precision Home Mapping and an auto-emptying base.
SharkClean is an app that you can download to your smartphone to map your rooms. Once it's done mapping the app allows you to create a schedule for your robot to keep your home clean, or select individual rooms to let the Matrix automatically start a cleaning session. You can also set 'no go zones such as beds or closets that you don't want it to access.
The app allows you to use the “spot cleaning” feature on demand. You can choose an area that is dirty on your floor map, and the robot will then clean the area automatically using many swipes of its cleaning pad. It can pick up everything from dog hair to weeds and tiny pieces of paper from a recent crafting project.
When the Matrix finishes it's cleaning job, it will head back to its dock and empty itself into the included bin. This is a very useful feature as it cuts down on the amount of hands-on maintenance you need to do.
One thing to note about this particular robot is that the LIDAR mapping sensor sits on top of the structure, which might prevent it from slipping under some low-to-the-ground furniture such as tables and sofas. This is a great option for those who don't mind that it is slightly larger than other robots. Be aware that this model isn't equipped with an HEPA filter like some of the other models on this list.
Precision Home Mapping
Shark's Matrix Clean Navigation is a precision grid that ensures no spot is missed. Incredible suction pulls dirt, dust and other debris to a bagless base that has 60 days of capacity. Precision home mapping that combines 360deg. LiDAR vision with a precise homemap that is available in the SharkClean App to allow fully autonomous movements and intelligent object avoidance. It creates a detailed map of your space, at night or day and allows for complete navigation without bumping furniture and other obstructions. This means that your robot will be left to complete a schedule of cleaning or you can start Matrix clean on demand and set room-specific goals anywhere through the app.
“The team at Precision is awesome, they understand that building a house can be stressful. They do an excellent job of keeping you calm during a time when you are worried about permits, weather, timing etc.” - Josh C.
Powerful Suction
The RV2502AE is a top mid-range robot cleaner that ticks all of the boxes. It's easy to use, generates precise home maps, and features a a self-emptying bagless base. It's also cheaper to run than other robot vacuums.
It's also got plenty of power, sweeping up debris through its suction opening and relying on its side brushes to push hair and carpet threads into the path of the brushroll. This stops the brushroll from clogging up and causing a mess like other robotic vacuums. It also makes the machine more effective for picking up hair from pets.
Besides its high suction and self-emptying base, this robot also has Matrix Clean Navigation for a thorough cleaning process, Precision Home Mapping for object avoidance, and a high-efficiency HEPA filter that traps 99 percent of odors dust mites, and allergens and has two power modes for different floor types and a remote control that gives you access to all of its functions. It also works with voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can start cleaning without having to touch the robot.
It's a great option for most homes but its navigation capabilities could be a problem for some. Contrary to other bump robots that can steer clear of stairs however, this one had trouble with them. It utilized LiDAR and infrared sensors to map the house, but it kept mistaking my cat's condo as stairs and demanded that I move it out of the way. Additionally, it only had a total of 180 minutes of runtime before running out of power, which was shorter than advertised.
Self-Empty Base
Some robots, including this one that self-empty bases. These bases are able to remove debris from the onboard dustbin to an external dirt compartment. This makes maintenance simpler. They are referred to as the Clean Base Dirt Disposal by iRobot, Auto Empty Station by Ecovacs or bagless electric robots Self Emptying Base by Shark. They are a practical option however they can be noisy and messy. They typically require special disposal bags.

It can hold debris for up to 60 days and doesn't need to be emptied daily as other models. Shark's suction power is amazing and can take care of even the toughest of mess. The docking station's vacuum to empty the trash bin is quite loud.
When the robot is plugged in and charging, it will emit a beep and a green light on its top will pulse to indicate that it's ready to begin cleaning. When the battery of the robot is depleted it will dock to its base until it is recharged. It is essential that the dock or Self-Empty Base is positioned where it isn't blocked by furniture or other objects, and is clear of any obstructions in front of it.
This model is slightly more expensive than other models in the middle of the range we've tried. However, it is more sturdy and performs better on unfinished floors. It also has longer battery life and lower maintenance requirements. It also has more extensive range of automation features, such as virtual boundary markers. The iRobot Roomba i7, however is still our preferred pick because it feels sturdier and more refined, is faster in charging and is able to be tangled with rug tassels much less frequently and has a larger capacity battery.
Easy Setup
The Shark AI Ultra comes with a simple-to-use Schedule that takes just two inputs. You can choose the date and time of sunrise and sunset. You can also set the duration of the ramp times (increasing brightness or decreasing) and whether to switch on the lights at night.
It doesn't include voice control or smart mapping like Alexa or Google Assistant, but it has a useful free programming suite. The suite comprises a range of Windows-based tools that permit operating parameter settings and communication including dmXLAN switch, node configuration and real-time testing and rapid replication to multiple installations.
Even the most novice of users will not have any trouble navigating through the interface. It has tabs at the top that correspond with the different screens that the installer will show and also tabs that allow you to play with different options for messages and colors. It's a powerful tool that allows you to quickly create an installation of your program. The application is only 1.3MB in size and is compatible with Windows 7 to Windows 95.
