When looking for a double umbrella stroller, it's crucial to assess your family's needs and preferences. This will help you narrow your choices and concentrate on the most important features.
The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 Double single pushchair umbrella stroller is a high-quality, well-designed product that folds easily. It comes with big umbrellas, a large storage bin and is very easy to move around.
Lightweight
The top double umbrella strollers are compact and light, yet provide plenty. They're not as heavy as a traditional stroller or jogger, and are typically smaller when folded, too. They don't have the whistles, bells, and storage space that are found in full-size strollers, they offer large canopy and seating that reclines.
A compact double umbrella stroller is a popular option for families that travel together. It's easy to fold and fits in the majority of trunks and carry-on bags, and is the best option for navigating the narrow streets and narrow doors. It's also cheaper than the “travel stroller” with more features that you could use frequently.
Some of the best double strollers, such as the UPPAbaby G-Link 2 have features you won't find on the lighter models. This double umbrella stroller has hanging storage pockets and trays on each seat for children's snacks and toys and two parent cupholders. Its minimalist design makes it one of the slimmest double umbrella strollers on the market. It folds easily and features a large canopy that protects both seats.
Other options that are lightweight, such as the Joovy Kooper X2, offer more bells and whistles than you would expect from a double stroller umbrella. It also offers a more comfy ride for both children thanks to padded seats as well as a higher recline for each seat. It's important to remember, though, that the more features you pick the more your stroller weighs. It is also important to be sure that your child doesn't catch their fingers on the frames or hinges of these strollers because of how they open and close.
Compact
The smallest double umbrella strollers, when folded are easy single to double pushchair maneuver and fit in tight spaces. They're a good option for parents who plan to take their stroller regularly on sidewalks, at shopping malls, or to get around tourist attractions like the aquarium, zoo or museums. These compact strollers double that are lightweight can also be great for commuting or as a backup to a heavier, more feature-packed stroller when traveling.
There are two general styles of umbrellas that are lightweight that have a few features and those that offer a number of convenience and comfort features in addition to their compact size and lightweight weight. Some of the best examples are large pop-out umbrellas, with SPF 50, peekaboo windows and cushioned seats. They also have 5-point safety harnesses on both sides, as well as adjustable leg rests, and reclining seats. Other important aspects to consider are whether or not you want a tray for your child or car seat attachment and the amount of storage space each seat comes with.
The Delta Children LX Double Umbrella is an excellent example of a simple minimalist stroller that is incredibly light and very affordable. The stroller weighs only 18 lbs and includes an easy-to-carry strap that can be schlepped easily in the trunk of your car, or a front hall closet when not in use. Its front wheels are precise and swivel to provide more comfort and ease of steering. Another highly recommended option is the brand new Kinderwagon Hop, a super narrow tandem umbrella stroller that's also light and easy to maneuver through doorways. The model was out of production for a couple of decades however it's returning and worth taking a look at. It also has three panels of canopy that provide more sun protection than smaller models.
Easy to Fold
The most basic umbrella strollers fold like umbrellas and weigh less than other types. They are easy to lift, carry and store when you don't want or can't bring your large stroller due to some reason (traveling on an airplane, traveling in a foreign city, visiting grandma). These strollers are usually less well-equipped than fully-featured models, but they should provide the basic features like storage space and a sun canopy.
The latest version of the UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is lighter and narrower than its predecessor, and has a more efficient front wheel that increases mobility and pushability. It's a great option for a stroller to travel with that can hold two children. And it's Disney approved!
A double tri-fold stroller, like the Joovy Kooper X2, offers all the features of an umbrella-style stroller but in a body that's comparable in size to a regular full-size stroller. This kind of stroller is replacing the traditional double umbrella stroller. It's probably the ideal choice if you're seeking a light, flexible stroller.
The majority of double umbrella strollers we recommend are side by side models. The Kinderwagon Hop is an umbrella tandem stroller that's light and easy to fold. It is also very narrow. This is a great option when you're looking for a basic, cheap double umbrella stroller you can easily put in your trunk for short trips. It even comes with two storage bags hanging from the backs of each seat as well as cup holders for the parents. It's so basic, it could not get your kids through an airport without making an oath. However, it will make the trip more comfortable.
Comfortable Seats
Most umbrella strollers aren't equipped with a variety of bells and whistles, because they only have one goal: to transport two children from one place to the other. This means they typically have seats that are spacious and comfortable, but don't have reclining options or all terrain double buggy-terrain wheels.
The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 stands out. It's an incredibly lightweight and compact double umbrella stroller with two seats that weigh just 18 pounds each, making it an ideal choice for travelers (it meets Disney size requirements). It has a huge canopy with three panels that shields children from the sun. Both seats offer a good amount of storage however, not as much as our top choices. It also comes with the essential 5-point safety harnesses that are in both seats as well as windows that peek out in their canopy.
The G-Link lacks the bellybar and snack tray that we'd like to see on our top choices. But those features aren’t necessary for umbrella strollers. And, like any umbrella stroller, it needs to be used with care so fingers, whether your own or a child's–don't get caught in the hinges of the frame that fold and mechanisms.
In the majority of double stroller for twins umbrella strollers with seats, they are side-byside. However there are models that have inline seating (one seat that is placed in front of the other). Inline models are easier to maneuver through doors than side-byside models, but they often have a disparity between the seating options which could cause your kids to argue over who has the better seat. This was pretty evenly divided among our previous testers, so it really comes down to an individual choice.
Safety
Your child's safety is a primary consideration when you choose a stroller and the design of double umbrella strollers can affect the quality of its operation. Although it's difficult to find a lightweight double stroller that offers the same level of security as the full-sized strollers, a few models are comparable. They typically come with 5-point harnesses, calf and foot rests for children, as well as an extendable, UPF 50+ sun visor. They are usually narrower and lighter compared to other double umbrella strollers. This makes them more maneuverable in tight spaces like airports and city streets.
Some models, like the Kinderwagon Hop, are side-by-sides and are especially easy to maneuver through tight spaces. This stroller is perfect for parents who travel with their children and needing a simple and quick way to get around. It's also small enough to fit easily in a trunk or storage space.
The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is another model worth looking into. It is among the most lightweight double strollers we've test-driven. It is surprisingly sturdy design for an umbrella product. It also has a large storage basket that is easily accessible with reclining seats, as well as a peekaboo window. The seat can also hold 35 lbs and meets Disney stroller size requirements.
Other models, like the Jeep PowerGlide double stroller, are more basic in appearance and might not have the same features. They are light and can be used for backups or even for occasional travel. These strollers are also cheaper than renting one for a complete vacation or for a trip. They are also easy to lift, carry and fold.
