Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Aesthetics

As a design-centric company Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting and the use of leather that is made from leftovers from cattle, the wood from sustainably-managed forests, and the unique patterns of its levers. The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top vehicle. The rear tonneau, for instance, displayed the largest piece of book-matched, dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to an actual production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Design

The Bentley Mulsanne key features a button that opens the trunk and another which starts the car. The key also includes a switch to turn on the parking brake. It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key which can help prevent theft of keys with no key. It stops thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the car.

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own vehicle. The customers sit at a set of images called “mood stations” and pick a set of photos - from scenic views to sporting events that will inspire them to design their own.
