They are available in two-knuckle styles, three-knuckle styles, five-knuckle designs, and swing clear designs. There are also designs for electrical security, heavy duty hinges, and non-removable pins (NRP).
A lubricated pivot is easier to use, and reduces friction caused by frequent use. You can lubricate your hinges with liquid or dry lubricants, such as petroleum jelly, cooking oil paraffin wax, or furniture polish. Apply a thin layer lubricant on the hinge barrel and allow it to soak for at minimum 15 minutes.
If your hinges are stuck or rusty it is possible to clean and remove the pin from the barrel. After this is done cleaning the hinge's barrel with wire brushes and a small amount penetrating oil such as Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster. Reinstall the hinge after cleaning the barrel. Test it to make sure the pin fits correctly.

Rebated hinges have become a popular choice for doors that will be installed within frames that are built around them. The hinges are set within the frame so that they don't overlap the door sash when open and are secured to the edge of the door using screws. These hinges offer a solution for doors requiring more adjustment than standard butts can provide. They also make ideal for doors with chamfers that don't allow the use traditional butts. If your rebated door hinges are squeaking, an easy and easy solution is spraying them with aerosol lithium or silicone grease. This will stop squeaking temporarily, but it is not an option for long-term solutions. It can wear off with time.
An alternative that is more durable is to drill the screw holes, then fill them with wood filler. This will keep the screws tight and give you a solid grip on the door. You can also use toothpicks to plug the holes and make them stronger.
A wooden dowel the same size as the screw hole you have is a different option. Make a hole big enough to fit the dowel. Attach the dowel to the screw hole and then chisel it flush after it has been set. Then, screw the hinge back in place.
I have some doors that have had the hinge recesses drilled too far and then splinted. The frames are buried in an old building and are quite big so replacing them is not an alternative. Could it be feasible to cut the section of frame and splice in the new piece of wood into which a brand new hinge recess could be made that will better hold screws for the hinges? This would be a good solution, and what kind of wood do you recommend for this type repair?
Flag Hinges
UPVC hinges can be used to upgrade or replace existing hinges. Many of the newer upvc door panel repair door models have hinges that are adjustable and slimline. These hinges are simpler to open and shut and are more insulated. They are also easier to maintain than hinges that are older and less likely to rattle or rattle.
